Coffee Hite

It was great to meet one of our speciality roasters on-site recently when Garage Coffee generously offered up their Whitstable coffee shop for a location shoot for some publicity photography we’ve been working on.

Garage Coffee is one of the latest UK artisan roasters to join our popular coffee subscription platform.

Founded by Luke Underdown in 2015, in a stunning village just outside Canterbury, Kent, Garage Coffee focuses on delivering the best quality coffee whilst also being sustainable and positively impacting local communities.

Aside from their roastery, they opened their first flagship shop and training room in the heart of Canterbury in 2017 and have since opened up coffee shops in the seaside towns of Whitstable and Margate.

Maximising opportunities in rustic surroundings

We visited Garage Coffee’s Whitstable coffee shop – a quaint, rustic space with a small but perfectly formed barista station taking centre stage to the rear of the shop. The shop is lined by quirky seating spaces, making the most of the beautiful bay window space and outdoor area.

When we arrived, we were served by two diligent baristas who clearly take enormous pride in their craft. They also offer a range of sumptuous cakes and sweet treats to accompany your brew – and increase sales opportunities. In fact, this site is a prime example of how great opportunity lies even in the smallest spaces.

While floor space is at a premium here, as with many coffee shops, the team at Garage Coffee have cleverly utilised the walls behind the counters and installed a simple standing shelving rack to pack in carefully curated brewing products and coffee to share with their customers.

Introducing customers to the delights of home brew speciality coffee

There is a clear sense that the Garage team are happy to educate their customers and pass on their passion for coffee by encouraging them to try brewing for themselves at home, starting with simple devices like the Clever Coffee Dripper (available in our store from just £9.17 ex vat), found readily displayed on the shelves.

As Garage Coffee has shown, even boutique premises can find ways to enlighten their customers and pass on the brewing love – with all the equipment to hand in-store to sell on when needed.

Discounts of up to 50% for trade account holders

With up to 50% available off retail prices for all Coffee Hit trade account holders, selling on coffee-brewing products, grinders and kettles to your customers is fantastic way to boost your bottom line – especially with the Christmas gift rush fast approaching.
